( Basic Coated Hydrogen Controlled Electrode)
DESCRIPTION AND APPLICATIONS: A basic type heavy coated hydrogen controlled iron powder type electrode giving an extremely smooth arc, medium penetration and least spatter. Easy to operate in all position. The weld metal is extremely ductile and cracks resistant. Specially recommended for heavy joints under restraint and subject to dynamic loading. Deposition efficiency 115% approx. The tough, crack-free weld metal of consistent radiographic quality suitable for welding of carbon steel in fabrication of machinery & equipment of a wide range, especially for structures which are designed for severe service conditions involving heavy stresses and dynamic loads. It finds numerous applications with grain-refined constructional steels having tensile strength in the range 500 to 600 N/mm2. TYPICAL APPLICATION: Boilers, Pumps and Compressors, Off-shore drilling rings & platforms, Pressure Vessels, Frigates & Submarines, Blast furnace shells, Rotary Kiln Shells, Rail wagons & coaches etc.
Precautions:
- Store in a dry place.
- Redry the electrodes at 250°C for one hour before use and place the baked electrodes in carrying oven at 90oC while in use.
- Maintain appropriate current and short arc.
- Remove oil, grease, dust & rust from parent metal.
- Do not handle the electrodes with moisture greasy hand.
