(Copper coated solid wire suitable for root pass in pipe welding and carbon steel welding)

DESCRIPTION AND APPLICATIONS: : RK-71T1 is a versatile carbon steel FCAW wire intended for single and multiple pass welding using DCEP in flat and for welding fillet welds in the horizontal position at high deposition rates. The wire is characterized by a spray transfer, low spatter loss, flat to slightly convex bead contour, and a moderate volume of slag, which completely covers the weld bead. This class has rutile based slag and the ability to produce high deposition rates. The specially selected chemistry ensures high fluidity of the weld pool, thereby creating smooth bead appearance resulting in minimal post-weld grinding. The typical applications includes construction work, fabrication of tanks and vessels, automobile bodies, pipes, steel castings and forgings, shaft build-ups and general fabrication. Although wire is designed for use on pure CO2, Ar-CO2 may be used to improve usability, especially for out-of-position applications. However, increasing the amount of argon in the Ar-CO2 mixture will increase the manganese and silicon contents in the weld metal which in turn will increase the yield and tensile strengths and may affect impact properties. Therefore, proper care may be taken while selecting the gas mixture.
